The Information and Privacy Commissioner is an independent Officer of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut who fulfills a number of roles as defined by the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Elaine Keenan Bengts was re-appointed Information and Privacy Commissioner by the Second Legislative Assembly of Nunavut in October of 2004.

Annual Reports
The Information and Privacy Commissioner is required to file an annual report each year outlining the activities of the Commissioner during the previous year.
The Commissioner's Recommendations
The Information and Privacy Commissioner makes recommendations to public bodies in response to complaints about breaches of privacy and difficulties in obtaining records.
Request Access to Information
To obtain information from a public body, a written request must be made to the appropriate public body. A form is available to assist in making such requests.
